What We Fix

Common Bathroom Emergencies We Attend

Our emergency engineers attend all types of urgent bathroom plumbing problems across London — 24 hours a day, every day of the year. No matter the time, our Gas Safe engineers are ready to be dispatched immediately for leaks, burst pipework and failed fixtures. All emergency work is carried out at a fixed price agreed before we start.

⚠️ If you smell gas — do not call us first. Call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 immediately and leave the property. Once safe, we can attend to any resulting plumbing work.

Burst pipe under bath or shower

Hidden pipework behind a bath panel or under a shower tray fails and floods the floor below.

Leaking shower tray or enclosure

Failed sealant or a cracked tray lets water escape into the subfloor and ceiling below.

Toilet leaking or overflowing

A failed cistern, base seal or waste connection causing continuous leaking or flooding.

Water coming through the ceiling below

A bathroom leak above has started coming through a ceiling — urgent isolation needed.

Full suite damaged after flooding

Water damage has affected the bath, toilet or basin and a fast replacement is needed.

Failed waste pipe or trap

A cracked or disconnected waste pipe under a basin or bath causing an active leak.

While You Wait

What to Do in a Bathroom Plumbing Emergency

Taking these steps immediately can reduce water damage to your property significantly while you wait for our engineer.

Turn off your water at the stopcock

Your internal stopcock is usually under the kitchen sink or in the airing cupboard. Turn it clockwise to isolate the water supply and stop more water entering the system.

Isolate the local supply if possible

Many toilets and basins have an individual isolation valve behind or beneath the fixture — if you can safely reach it, turning this off may be enough to stop the leak without affecting the rest of the house.

Move electrical items away from water

If water is near any electrical fittings, switches or extractor fans, do not touch them. Turn off the relevant circuit at the consumer unit if it’s safe to do so.

Document the damage

Take photos and video of the leak and any damage for your home insurance claim. Note when the problem started. Our engineer will provide a written report after the job for your records.

⚠️ Do NOT attempt these yourself

  • Do not attempt to repair a burst pipe with tape or sealant — this is a temporary fix that can make the damage worse and may invalidate your insurance.
  • Do not remove bath panels or shower tray edges yourself to “find” the leak — this can cause further damage and make the repair more complex.
  • Do not switch on any electrical switches or appliances if there is water near electrical fittings — turn the electricity off at the consumer unit (fuse box) first.
  • Do not use chemical drain unblockers in an active overflow situation — they can react with standing water and cause injury.

“Pipe burst under our bath panel at 10pm and water was already coming through the kitchen ceiling. Engineer arrived in 42 minutes, isolated it immediately, and came back the next day to fix the pipework properly. Genuinely stopped what could have been a much bigger disaster.”

No call-out charge applies, day or night. Emergency repair work — such as isolating a leak or replacing a failed cistern — is priced and agreed before we start. If a full emergency bathroom replacement is needed, we provide a fixed quote once the engineer has assessed the damage on site.
In many cases we can isolate the immediate leak and make the bathroom safe to use the same day, with a full suite replacement scheduled within 24 to 48 hours once any water damage has been assessed and materials confirmed. Full same-day replacement depends on the extent of damage and parts availability.
A bathroom emergency includes a burst pipe under a bath or behind a shower, a leaking shower tray or enclosure causing water to escape into the floor below, a toilet that won't stop filling or is leaking at the base, or a failed waste pipe causing flooding. If in doubt, call us and we will advise.
Yes. We regularly attend leasehold flats where a bathroom leak has affected a neighbouring property. We can isolate the leak quickly, provide a written report for insurance or managing-agent purposes, and coordinate access where needed.
