What We Fix

Common Radiator Emergencies We Attend

Our emergency engineers attend all types of urgent radiator problems across London — 24 hours a day, every day of the year. No matter the time, our Gas Safe engineers are ready to be dispatched immediately. All emergency work is carried out at a fixed price agreed before we start.

⚠️ If you smell gas — do not call us first. Call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 immediately and leave the property. Once safe, we can attend to any resulting plumbing work.

Radiator leaking

Water escaping from the radiator body, a valve, or a joint connection — often pooling on the floor below.

Valve snapped or seized

A radiator valve that has sheared off or seized solid, making it impossible to control or isolate the radiator.

Radiator cold despite heating on

One or more radiators staying cold even with the rest of the heating system running normally.

Radiator come away from the wall

A loose or fallen radiator bracket creating a strain risk on the connected pipework and an active leak risk.

Pipe behind or under radiator burst

A split in the pipework feeding the radiator, often hidden behind skirting or under floorboards.

Corroded or perforated radiator

An older radiator that has corroded through and started leaking, usually needing full replacement.

While You Wait

What to Do in a Radiator Emergency

Taking these steps immediately can reduce water damage to your property significantly while you wait for our engineer.

Isolate the affected radiator

If the valves at either end of the radiator can be safely turned, closing both will isolate the leak without affecting the rest of the heating system.

Place towels or a container under the leak

Catch any dripping water and protect flooring underneath while you wait for the engineer to arrive.

Check the boiler pressure gauge

A leaking radiator can cause the system pressure to drop. Note the reading so your engineer can assess how much water has been lost.

Move electrical items away from water

If water is near any sockets, extension leads or appliances, move them away and avoid touching anything electrical with wet hands.

⚠️ Do NOT attempt these yourself

  • Do not attempt to repair a leaking radiator or burst pipe with tape or sealant — this is a temporary fix that can make the damage worse and may invalidate your insurance.
  • Do not force a snapped or seized valve — this can cause further damage and may turn a small leak into a major one.
  • Do not attempt to remove a radiator from the wall yourself if it has come loose — the connected pipework can be damaged further, causing a bigger leak.
  • Do not switch on any electrical switches or appliances if there is water near electrical fittings — turn the electricity off at the consumer unit (fuse box) first.
