What We Fix

Common Toilet Emergencies We Attend

Our emergency engineers attend all types of urgent toilet problems across London — 24 hours a day, every day of the year. No matter the time, our engineers are ready to be dispatched immediately. All emergency work is carried out at a fixed price agreed before we start.

⚠️ If you smell gas — do not call us first. Call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 immediately and leave the property. Once safe, we can attend to any resulting plumbing work.

Toilet blocked / won't flush

A blockage in the pan or waste pipe preventing the toilet from flushing properly.

Toilet won't stop filling

A continuously running cistern, often caused by a failed fill valve or float mechanism, wasting water.

Cistern or pan leaking

Water leaking from a cracked cistern, pan, or a failed seal at the base connection to the floor.

Toilet overflowing

Water rising and overflowing the bowl, usually caused by a blockage further down the soil pipe.

Only toilet in property unusable

A higher priority call-out where there is no other working toilet in the home.

Cracked pan needing replacement

A cracked toilet pan or cistern that can’t be safely repaired and needs same-day replacement.

While You Wait

What to Do in a Toilet Emergency

Taking these steps immediately can reduce water damage to your property significantly while you wait for our engineer.

Turn off the isolation valve

Most toilets have a small isolation valve behind or beneath the cistern. Turning this off will stop more water entering and is usually enough to stop overflowing or continuous filling.

Don't keep flushing a blocked toilet

Repeated flushing of a blocked toilet risks it overflowing onto the floor. Stop flushing and wait for the water level to settle before our engineer arrives.

Lay towels around the base if leaking

If water is leaking from the base of the toilet, towels or a container can limit the spread of water onto flooring until the engineer arrives.

Use an alternative toilet if available

If you have access to another toilet in the building or nearby, use this while waiting, particularly if the issue is a blockage rather than a leak.

⚠️ Do NOT attempt these yourself

  • Do not use chemical drain unblockers in a toilet that is already close to overflowing — they can react unpredictably with standing water.
  • Do not attempt to force a blockage further down with excessive plunging — this can push the blockage further into the soil pipe, making it harder to clear.
  • Do not flush anything other than toilet paper and human waste — wipes, cotton products and sanitary items are a leading cause of blockages.
  • Do not attempt to remove or refit a toilet pan yourself — incorrect refitting can cause leaks at the base seal that are harder to diagnose later.

FAQs

Emergency Toilet Questions Answered

We aim to have an engineer at your property within 60 minutes across all London boroughs for a blocked, leaking or completely unusable toilet. We will confirm an estimated arrival time when you call or submit your request.
We treat single-toilet households as a higher priority for emergency response, since a blocked or broken toilet leaves no working facility in the home. Let us know this when you call so we can prioritise accordingly.
No. There is no call-out charge for emergency toilet repair, day or night. You pay only for the diagnostic and repair work, priced and agreed with you before the engineer starts.
A toilet emergency includes a toilet that won't stop filling or flushing, a cracked cistern or pan leaking water, a blockage causing the toilet to overflow, or a toilet that is completely unusable with no other working toilet in the property. If in doubt, call us and we will advise.
In most cases, yes. Many blockages can be cleared using rodding or a small auger without needing to remove the toilet pan. If the blockage is further down the soil pipe or the pan itself is damaged, removal may be needed — your engineer will explain this before proceeding.
Yes. Our emergency line is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, with engineers available to attend urgent toilet failures across London.
